How To Remove Fake Antivira AV Antivirus

To convince you that your computer is infected a lot of windows will pop-up on your screen after a full, fake automatic scan of Antivira AV. Some window will contain the following warning: “Security Warning! Application cannot be executed. The file AV.exe is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?” Your Internet browser will also be hacked and will redirect all your searches to webpages where you will see alarming messages and links to other webpages where you will be able to buy the full software.

- It has to be said that such full version is not better than the “demo” one as it is an useless antivirus which provides no protection to your computer and your private data. On the contrary, it contains spywares which spy your Internet behaviour and steal your most important files and infos. At the time writing no “ad-hoc” Antivira removal tool exist, so the only way to get rid of it is to manually remove it.

Steps to Remove Fake Antivira AV Antivirus

  1. First start Windows in Safe Mode. To do it, click Start and restart your machine. As soon as it restart, keep pressing the F8 button in your keyboard. This will let you gain access to the Safe Mode. Once you are in the Safe Mode screen, select Safe Mode with Networking.
  2. To get rid of and uninstall the entries Antivira installed on Windows registry. Click Start Menu.
  3. In the Search field (Run… if you use Windows Vista or XP) type regedit and press Enter.
  4. Delete the following entries:
  5. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\PhishingFilter “Enabled” = “0″ HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings “ProxyOverride” = ” HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings “ProxyServer” = ‘http=127.0.0.1:8992′ HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings “ProxyEnable” = ‘1′
  6. If some of the Windows registries above can not be uninstalled right away, it is because they are still running on your PC, in the background. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to open Windows Task Manager and look for any AV.exe or .exe running process and kill it.
  7. Now, let’s fix our Internet Explorer or Firefox. Open Internet Explorer. Go to  Tools and click – Internet Options. Now, click the Internet Connections tab -  LAN settings button. Untick the  “Use a proxy server for your LAN” checkbox in the the Proxy Server section and press OK to confirm.
For Mozilla Firefo users:  Click  Tools – Click Options – Click Advanced – Click Network – Click Settings – Check No Proxy – Click OK to confirm.
  8. Now scan your computer with a good, free, robust Antivirus such as AVG Free.
  9. Download and Install free Spybot Search and Destroy and perform a full antimalware/antispyware scan.
